    Chennai (India), 22 August 2013 – In January we were highlighting the success of Renault Duster in India, where it had already won 11 awards. Duster has so far obtained a total of 29 awards, and a community of fans of the vehicle has emerged.

    We review a success story that is driving Renault's overall performance in India.

    With about 60,000 units sold and more than 70,000 vehicles ordered, Renault Duster accounts for over two-thirds of Renault sales in India. Moreover, the media have given Duster a fantastic reception, awarding the vehicle 29 prizes to date. They include the highly coveted Indian Car of the Year award and the Best Launch of 2012, all product categories combined, beating even the Indian film Kahaani and the Samsung Galaxy Note II telephone (Business Standard)!

    To maintain this success and strengthen its ties with customers, Renault India has just set up a Renault Community in India with Duster as its flagship. Gang of Dusters is the official name of this community of Duster owners.

    Fourteen Duster fans and their families and friends joined the West Coast Expedition that took them from Mumbai to Goa from 15 to 19 August.
    The event included a car rally, a meeting with a professional driver, climbing, rafting and a safari. All these adventures were greatly enjoyed by the participants, highlighting Duster’s qualities as well as making them feel closer to the brand.

    If a product is to become a benchmark, its customers must feel almost affectionate towards it, says Vivek Balasubramaniam, Renault India marketing manager.

    Duster appeals to owners because of its performance, which combines the comfort of a saloon with the handling of an SUV. Gang of Dusters enables customers to experience the adventure and excitement their vehicle can deliver but which they do not always have the chance to feel in everyday driving.

    About Renault in India


    Renault India Private Ltd is a fully owned subsidiary of Renault S.A. established in 2005. It cooperated with Mahindra & Mahindra in manufacturing the popular Logan saloon. In April 2010 Renault decided to go solo on the Indian market and in May 2011 introduced its first product, Fluence.

    Renault is currently selling five models in India: a premium sedan (Fluence), a luxury SUV (Koleos), a premium compact city car (Pulse), a compact SUV (Duster ) and a small saloon (Scala). Renault cars are manufactured at a plant located on the outskirts of Chennai in Oragadam. Renault India has around 100 dealerships across the country at the moment.
