Córdoba (Argentina) - August 7, 2013. With 17.1% market share in July, Renault is number one on the Argentinean market, ahead of Volkswagen (16.6%) and General Motors (15.7%). An outstanding performance reached thanks to the success of the line-up and the quality of the network.
Since the beginning of the year, the Argentinean market is particularly active, with an increase of nearly 9% in the first half of the year. Reasons are: car prices increase remain lower than general inflation and car purchasing remain a good way to save money, in a country where real interest rates are negative and access to foreign currency closed.
With an increase of sales in Argentina by almost 7% in the first half, in spite of the lack of availability of some models related to the closure of Curitiba plant (Brazil), Renault is now moving forward and targets market leaders such as Volkswagen and General Motors. The recipe for success: the availability of the whole range, Argentinean customers only buy cars from stock, the success of the two flagship models that are Clio Mío and Duster and finally the mobilization of the network. Manufactured at the Córdoba plant (Argentina), Clio Mío, evolution of Clio’s second generation, meets a commercial success. With a well-positioned pricing, 3 years warranty (a first in this segment) and a customization program, Clio Mío is the third best-selling model in Argentina. At the 5th market position,
Duster resists to its strongest competitor, the “Ford Ecosport” model.
But Renault’s strength in Argentina is also due to its network consisting of 50 dealers and four branches.
According to Alejandro Reggi, commercial director of Renault Argentina, “all of us in Renault Argentina as well as in the Network are proud of July performance. Our result shows the potential of the brand in Argentina, our capacity to mobilize ourselves and our line up’s strength. This result was also reached without any compromise of the profitability of the business”.
